What Makes a Ghost So Close

Got three new songs that I've been listening to a lot.

#3 Passion Pit - "Cry Like a Ghost"

There's a lot to like about Passion Pit's sophomore album, Gossamer. Another song I've really enjoyed, other than the hit single "Take a Walk," is "Cry Like a Ghost." It has not been released as a single yet, but IMO, it's the next catchiest song. It does have a spooky kind of hip-hop beat, but a super singable chorus. That's also what's kind of odd about it. It's a sad song, but is upbeat and poppy.

#2 The Heavy - "What Makes a Good Man?"

You have probably heard The Heavy's "How You Like Me Now?" somewhere before. It was in the trailers for movies like Horrible Bosses, The Change-Up, and Ted, played multiple times in the Oscar-nominated film The Fighter, and was in that Kia Sorento television commercial with that Yo Gabba Gabba character that you couldn't escape from. As I was typing this, I just heard it again on a Miller Light commercial. But that was so 2009 and The Heavy have a new question for you. "What Makes a Good Man?" is the latest single on their new 2012 album The Glorious Dead. It's another great song that might not get used as much as "How You Like Me Now?" or "Short Change Hero," but it's already been used in the trailer for the video game Sleeping Dogs, and the live action television commercial for Borderlands 2, and NHL 13.

#1 Calvin Harris - "Feels So Close"

I got to work one morning and saw that the MTV Music Video Awards were on the previous night and I had missed it. I shrugged my shoulders and briefly went over the list of winners. I got to the Best Electronic Music Video category and saw that Calvin Harris won for "Feels So Close." I had never heard of him or the song, so I looked it up and became immediately hooked. The song is great. It's a club song with all the right catchiness. You will sing and you will dance. His third studio album entitled 18 Months will be out on October 29, 2012. I've had a quick listen of some of the other songs that will appear on the album and I'm looking forward to it.

What have you been listening to lately?
