This is my eighty-seventh Foto Phriday post. The pictures today are from Thanksgiving, our backyard, and downtown Seattle. Full set with all 61 photos can be viewed here.
Thanksgiving was with Bethany's folks this year. We opted out of our tradition of going down to Portland over the weekend this year.
It was Coral's first Thanksgiving and we blended up some mashed potatoes, turkey, and corn for her. She liked it! It was a great tasting Thanksgiving dinner.
I've been borrowing a 24-105mm lens from a co-worker for my 5D, but haven't had much opportunity to shoot around with it yet since the weather has been crummy. This past weekend was fairly dry, so I took it around our neighborhood for some quick shots. Here is the reflection of some trees in a water-filled pothole.
Our crabapple tree is full of fruit right now. Wonder if we should make some jelly out of it or something.
Found some 'shrooms behind our house. Did not try any.
The small forest in our backyard is actually quite fun to explore.
As you can see, I used the macro feature a lot. Can't do this stuff with my 50mm.
Look at this little teddy bear. Tawnya bought a winter suit for Coral over Thanksgiving weekend. We didn't shop too much because there's nothing we really need. I did happen to score a good deal on a new LEGO video game that I had been wanting on Amazon.
We put up out Christmas tree and decorations after Thanksgiving, like we normally do.
Julie enjoys decorating the tree more and more each year.
Took the 24-105mm downtown on Sunday since it was a dry day.
We stopped by the Fairmont Olympic Hotel to check out the different Christmas trees up for auction for Seattle Children's Hospital. Once again, they were super pretty. If you head there now, you already missed all of the trees, but you can still see some of the other lovely decorations around the hotel.
The gingerbread display was another triumph this year as it featured the new Ferris wheel and Seattle waterfront.
The teddy bear suite is always a special treat.
The Fairmont is always a must-see for us during the Christmas season.
Westlake Center had a giant tree up outside, too. Wasn't so busy on Sunday.
I wish I could say that I'm 100% completely sold on the 24-105. I want to try the 17-40mm before I make my final decision because I love the super wide capability it has. I imagine this shot would look even cooler than the great image that the 24-105 already produces. We shall see.
We ended our outing at Pacific Place to check out the paper snowflake chandelier. To see more pictures from Seattle, our backyard, and Thanksgiving, please view the full set.
